Uruk period seal |
This calcite cylinder seal with animal-shaped knob dates from 3300 to 3000 BC and is probably from the Sumerian city of Uruk. It details a priest-king, wearing a headband and net robe, feeding flowers to sheep. Reed bundles, symbols of the goddess Inanna, divide the scene.
